KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued an order for a written response regarding the failure to hold the election of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) on time.

The order was made following a hearing on a writ petition filed on Sunday.

In the first hearing, Justice Kumar Regmi’s single bench demanded a written response from all defendants. However, the court rejected the request for an interim order.

The writ was filed by Dhruba Prasad Chaulagain, who listed the FNJ as the respondent. The petition requested an interim order to hold the election within six months.

Chaulagain argued that since the current executive committee failed to conduct the election on time, alternative methods should be used to organize the election and resolve the issue.

This marks the third postponement of the Association’s election.

Following the failure to hold the election, both Chair Bipul Pokhrel and Vice Chair Ramesh Bista of the Federation have already resigned.
