KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club Women’s Volleyball Team received a grand welcome on Monday after winning the CAVA Women’s Club Volleyball Championship.

The victorious team was welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) by Jitendra Bahadur Chand, President of the Nepal Volleyball Association, along with other officials, athletes from various sports, and high-ranking Nepal Police officers.

The team was escorted with a traditional band from the airport to the Police Training Center in Maharajgunj.

However, media access to the center was restricted.

Nepal Police Club secured the championship title by defeating Uzbekistan’s Humo Volleyball Club in straight sets, 3–0, in the final match.

The team remained undefeated throughout the tournament, which concluded on Saturday in the Maldives. Six clubs, including teams from Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Tajikistan, competed in the championship.

In the league stage, Nepal Police Club defeated Humo, Sri Lanka Air Force, and Tajikistan’s Diamond Volleyball Club, all by 3–0 sets.

They also won against the Maldivian teams WAMCO Club (3–2) and Maldives Police Club (3–1).

Nepal Police Club entered the CAVA Women’s Club Championship as the reigning champions of the 8th NVA Women’s Volleyball League.

To strengthen their squad, they signed Sarawati Chaudhary and Niruta Thagunna from APF Club as spikers and Sumitra Regmi from New Diamond Sports Club as a middle blocker.
