KATHMANDU: A shocking development has emerged in the gruesome murder of a woman in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The city police have established eight special teams to investigate the crime, as reported by India TV.

Authorities are meticulously reviewing extensive CCTV footage from the area where the incident occurred.

Police have cordoned off the Bengaluru apartment where the victim’s body was discovered and have initiated an investigation with forensic teams and canine units.

Despite these efforts, no arrests have been made yet, and the search for the perpetrator is ongoing.

The victim, identified as Mahalakshmi, a 29-year-old from Jharkhand, was brutally murdered, dismembered into 30 pieces, and concealed in a refrigerator in a flat located in the Vyalikaval area.

This horrific crime has sent shockwaves through the local community.

High-ranking police officials have arrived at the scene, establishing a blockade on the road leading to the single-bedroom apartment where Mahalaxmi lived alone for about five months after separating from her husband, Hemant Das, who resides with their daughter.

Investigators are also interviewing her colleagues from the mall where she worked for potential leads.

In a related development, Mahalakshmi’s mother recounted learning about the tragedy when the landlord contacted her about a foul odor coming from the apartment. “Her landlord called us at night to report a strange smell coming from the house. My daughter’s body was cut and stuffed inside the fridge,” she shared, according to India Today.

Following the revelation, her husband arrived at the scene as reported by PTI. The body has been sent for an autopsy, with results pending.
