Press Council celebrates 55th Anniversary

KATHMANDU: Press Council Nepal has honoured journalists in its 55th anniversary in Kathmandu on Sunday.

The programme was held in the presence of President Ramchandra Paudel and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung.

The Press Council Gopaldas Journalism Award’ was jointly awarded to Annapurna Post daily’s editor Akhand Bhandari and Nepal Press Institute.

The award carries a purse of Rs.151, 000.

Similarly ‘Press Council Surendra Bahadur Basnet Journalism Award was given away to journalist Badri Sigdel. The award carries a purse of 110, 000.

The Press Council Code of Conduct Award was presented to ratopati.com, an online media outlet.

Meanwhile, RSS journalists Narayan Dhungana, Kalika Khadka and Rupani GM were honoured by the Council with cash prize of Rs 10,000 each.
