Eight detainees escape from Dhanusha police custody, one re-arrested (with names)

KATHMANDU: Nine detainees have escaped from custody at the District Police Office in Dhanusha after breaking through the ventilation system.

According to District Police Office spokesperson Ranjan Awale, nine out of ten detainees managed to flee early this morning.

One of the escapees has already been recaptured. All those who escaped were being held on charges related to drug offenses and theft.

Spokesperson Awale explained that the detainees used a hacksaw blade to cut through the rods of the ventilation system.

An investigation is underway to determine how the detainees gained access to the blade.

Meanwhile, the police have released the names of the escapees.

Among those who fled, Amit Kumar Jha, Ranjit Mandal, Roshan Mandal, Bhaskar Yadav, and Bishal Mukhiya were arrested on drug charges, while Sumit Mestar, Manish Mandal, and Vicky Karki were detained for indecent behavior.
