Erika Gurung wins historic Silver Medal at AKF Championship

KATHMANDU: Karate player Erika Gurung has won a historic silver medal at the AKF Championship, marking Nepal’s first-ever medal at the prestigious Asian Karate Federation Championship.

This achievement is a milestone in Nepalese karate history.

Erika’s journey to the final began with an impressive performance on Friday, where she won three consecutive bouts to secure her place in the championship round.

The 20th Senior AKF Championship concluded today in China, where Erika narrowly missed out on the gold.

She was defeated 6-0 in the final by Vietnam’s Ngô Thị Nguyên. Despite the loss, her silver medal remains a historic achievement for Nepal.
