KATHMANDU: A pregnant woman experiencing labor pains was rescued by a Nepali Army helicopter.

The Ministry of Health of Gandaki State reported that 20-year-old Sunila BK, a resident of Tamankhola Rural Municipality–1, Bongadobhan in Baglung, was airlifted for medical care.

Sunila’s family initially took her to the Burtibang Primary Health Center on Saturday evening after labor pains began, following advice from the local health institution.

Although she had mild pains at the time, her condition worsened on Sunday morning when her blood pressure suddenly spiked, and she began trembling and losing consciousness.

Dr. Navindra Dhakal from the health center stated that due to the severity of her condition, she was flown to Kathmandu via helicopter.

Dr. Dhakal added that despite administering medication for high blood pressure, Sunila’s symptoms, including tremors and fainting, persisted.

Additionally, the baby’s heart rate showed irregularities, making a local delivery impossible.
