Iran unveils indigenous missile & drone at military parade

KATHMANDU: Iran unveiled a long-range ballistic missile and drone during a military parade organized by its armed forces.

The parade, held at the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in southern Tehran, showcased the ballistic missile named “Jahad” and the drone “Shahed-136B” for the first time.

The event marked the beginning of Sacred Defense Week, commemorating the eight-year Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s.

The single-stage Jahad ballistic missile, powered by solid fuel, can accurately strike targets up to 1,000 kilometers away.

According to Fars News, it was designed and developed by the Aerospace Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The Shahed-136B drone, powered by a turbojet engine, is capable of destroying targets as far as 2,500 kilometers away.
