Complaints invited against proposed Chief Justice & 2 ambassadors

KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has called for complaints against the proposed Chief Justice and two ambassadors.

In a meeting held today, the committee announced that it would accept complaints regarding proposed Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut, the proposed Nepali Ambassador to Belgium, Sewa Lamsal, and the proposed Nepali Ambassador to Australia, Chitralekha Yadav.

According to the notice issued by the committee, complaints can be submitted within 10 days to the committee’s secretariat or district administration offices.

Complainants must provide their name, surname, address, and phone number clearly, though they have the option to keep their identity confidential if desired.

On Sept 16, the Constitutional Council decided to recommend the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, Raut, for appointment as the future Chief Justice. The current Chief Justice, Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, will complete his term on Oct 5.

Following this, proposed Chief Justice Raut will assume responsibilities in the judiciary for 18 months.

The Council of Ministers has recommended Sewa Lamsal as the Nepali Ambassador to Belgium and Chitralekha Yadav as the Nepali Ambassador to Australia.
