KATHMANDU: The report of the special committee formed to investigate the misappropriation of cooperative savings has been made public on Friday.

The report spans 1,124 pages, outlining recommendations and actions regarding the cooperatives.

Led by CPN-UML MP Surya Bahadur Thapa, the seven-member special committee was established by the House of Representatives on May 28, following allegations of misappropriation of savings in various cooperatives.

The committee held 66 meetings and interacted with 451 individuals to gather informative suggestions.

The Cooperative Investigation Special Committee has recommended action against Ravi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), in connection with the cooperative issues.

The committee concluded that the Gorakha Media Network misappropriated a total of 650 million Nepali Rupees from various cooperatives.

The report specifically mentions recommending action against the former managing director of Gorakha Media, Rabi Lamichhane, as well as chair Jiten Babu Rai, member Kumar Ramtehl, and director Chhabilal Joshi.
