Prakash Man Singh designated as acting PM
This decision follows Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's departure to the United States to attend the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has designated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh as the Acting Prime Minister.
This decision follows Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s departure to the United States to attend the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
In Oli’s absence, Singh will handle the daily administrative responsibilities of the Prime Minister.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to address the UNGA on October 10. This year’s general debate theme is “Leaving No One Behind: Peace, Sustainable Development, and Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations.”
Oli will also attend the opening session of the general debate on Sept 24 and participate in a reception hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden on Sept 25. He is set to return to Nepal on Sept 30.
