National Concert: Clash erupted following chants in Balen’s name

KATHMANDU: A minor scuffle occurred between supporters of Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah and attendees of a concert held in Durbar Marg in celebration of Constitution Day.
The conflict arose after Balen’s supporters started chanting slogans in his favor, causing tensions during the event.
When the Prime Minister arrived at the concert, Balen supporters continued their chants of “Balen, Balen…,” leading to further friction. According to the police, the situation escalated to some verbal arguments, but no major incident took place. However, Balen’s supporters alleged that they were assaulted during the altercation, although no arrests were made by the authorities.
The concert featured special performances by Elements Band and Kutumba Band. Additionally, popular artists such as Deepak Limbu, Anand Karki, Kunti Moktan, Devika Bandana, and Swapna Suman performed at the event.
Similar chants in favor of Balen were also heard at the Dharahara complex. Meanwhile, in New Baneshwor, a few youths were arrested during a protest against the constitution.
