Argentina retains top spot in FIFA Rankings, Nepal drops to 176th

KATHMANDU: World Cup champion Argentina remains at the top of FIFA’s world rankings.

According to the latest update by FIFA on Thursday, Argentina continues to hold the top position with 1,889.02 points.

Since winning the FIFA World Cup in Qatar two years ago, Argentina has maintained its top spot.

During the September international window, Argentina defeated Chile 3-0 but lost to Colombia 2-1.

There have been changes in the rankings from second to tenth place.

France is now in second place, Spain is third, England holds the fourth spot, and Brazil is fifth.

Belgium is ranked sixth, followed by the Netherlands in seventh, Portugal in eighth, Colombia in ninth, and Italy rounding out the top ten. In Asia, Japan holds the top position, ranking 16th globally.

Nepal’s Ranking Declines

Nepal has dropped one place in the latest FIFA rankings. According to the update on Thursday, Nepal is now ranked 176th, down from 175th in the previous ranking.

Nepal did not have the opportunity to play any international matches during the September window. In the South Asian region, Nepal holds the third position.

India, which leads the South Asian rankings, has also dropped two places to 126th.

The Maldives, in second place, is ranked 163rd.

Bhutan is ranked 184th, Bangladesh is in 186th place, Pakistan is 197th, and Sri Lanka is ranked 200th.
