KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) MP Gokul Baskota has hinted at the possibility of a by-election in Chitwan.

His comments came following a parliamentary investigation committee’s report recommending action against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane.

In a statement, Baskota wrote, “The leaders and people of Chitwan seem so energetic that they may be prepared to hold elections three times in five years. If there is no political bargaining in the legal arguments of the lawyers or the Thapa report, those knowledgeable say that the chance for another election will likely come during this winter.

Chitwan being called the 78th district wasn’t without reason!”

Rabi Lamichhane, who was elected from Chitwan-2, has already won two elections from the same constituency.

However, his MP position was previously annulled due to a citizenship dispute.
