KATHMANDU: Real Madrid secured a home victory against Stuttgart, with Brazilian forward Endrick making history by becoming the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League.

At 18 years and 58 days old, Endrick broke the record previously held by Real Madrid legend Raúl, who set the mark in 1995.

Raúl was 18 years and 113 days old when he scored against Ferencváros.

The young striker, who joined Real Madrid this season from Palmeiras, had already become the club’s youngest-ever scorer in La Liga after netting on his debut against Real Valladolid.

Tuesday night’s match was tightly contested, with the first half ending in a draw. However, early in the second half, Kylian Mbappé gave Real the lead, scoring from a Rodrigo pass. Stuttgart equalized in the 68th minute through Deniz Undav.

As the game seemed headed for a draw, Antonio Rüdiger restored Real Madrid’s lead with a header from a Luka Modric cross. Endrick then sealed the victory in injury time, adding another goal to ensure the win for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Real Madrid will now face Lille in their next match, while Stuttgart will host Sparta Prague.
