Balen Shah’s supporters chased from Indra Jatra

KATHMANDU: Supporters of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balen Shah faced police action during the Indra Jatra festival.

The incident occurred when young people wearing T-shirts with Shah’s photo were asked to leave by the police.

The police detained Shah’s supporters and took them to the police station in the Janasewa area.

The detentions followed a dispute between Shah’s supporters and local residents.

Authorities have stated that the detentions were made due to concerns that Shah’s supporters might disrupt the event, particularly with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in attendance.

Over 2,000 security personnel have been deployed for the Indra Jatra festival to ensure safety and order.
