KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, Chair of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has said that he is innocent in the co-operative case and now there will be an attempt to drag him towards the Gorkha media.

On Tuesday, during the inauguration of the National Assembly of the RSP in Kathmandu, Chair Rabi Lamichhane declared that he is innocent in the cooperative case.

He stated that the parliamentary investigation special committee had cleared him of any wrongdoing related to cooperative fraud.

Despite this, the committee recommended action regarding the expenditure of funds related to Gorkha Media.

Targeting Nepali Congress Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, Lamichhane questioned the nature of the evidence presented. He remarked, “What is evidence? Thapa says it’s not evidence but rather a form of respect, and I returned the respect as well.”

Lamichhane added, “The issue of Gorkha Media will now emerge. The cooperative issue is essentially closed. The claims of cooperative fraud are nearly settled. We should not need to explain what constitutes evidence. I have not come to make any disparaging remarks. My friend, Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Party Viraj Bhakta Shrestha, wrote very well on social media yesterday. It turns out that what was claimed as evidence was actually just a gesture of respect. I extend my respect to him as well.”

The party Chair urged media outlets not to sensationalize or distort the facts about his situation.
