KATHMANDU: Today marks Vastu Day and Bishwakarma Puja, celebrated with dedicated rituals and worship.

Every year, on the day of Kanya Sankranti, various industries and workshops honor Lord Bishwakarma with a sand idol or image, performing the puja with reverence.

Industries are specially decorated for the occasion, and workers are actively involved in the celebrations.

The sand or other material idol of Bishwakarma is typically immersed at sacred locations like the Bagmati river source in Sundarijal.

The idols and images worshipped today are to be immersed in the river starting from Wednesday.

On this day, it is believed that worshipping the tools and equipment used in industries will ensure their durability, prevent breakdowns during work, and enhance overall efficiency.

Vishwakarma is revered as an expert in Vastu Vidya, and it is believed that the Vastu Shastra text “Bishwakarma Prakash” was authored by him, according to Vastu expert Shiva Pokhrel.
