KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has commenced its first national assembly today at the Pragya Pratishthan in Kamaladi.

Party Chair Rabi Lamichhane addressed the assembly, highlighting the increasing attraction towards the party.

Lamichhane emphasized that despite changes in the political system, the situation for citizens has remained unchanged, prompting their political intervention. He clarified that they do not undervalue the contributions of those who have driven the country’s transformation so far.

He mentioned that the party is currently facing a myriad of challenges and acknowledged that their presence has become an issue for others.

He also warned that their attacks would be significant, hence the need for the leaders and activists to be prepared for substantial opposition.

Lamichhane asserted that their journey has not been easy, and countered claims that Raswapa is finished by stating that the party is far from done.

He affirmed that they cannot afford to lose in this struggle and advocated for peaceful rebellion through the ballot box to achieve change. He urged that they should not fear criticism in the defense of democracy.

Regarding the cooperative fraud case, Lamichhane noted that a parliamentary committee has cleared him of fraud allegations, and confirmed his accountability in running the Gorkha Media.

The assembly, which will continue until Wednesday, will cover discussions on topics such as ideology, organization, parliamentary affairs, campaigns, values, candidate leadership, and constitutional amendments.

According to Raswapa, around 1,500 representatives from across the country are participating in the assembly.

Chair Rabi Lamichhane will present the political report, while Acting General Secretary and Organization Department Head Burlakoti will present the organizational report.

The assembly is expected to announce a national campaign and set the date for the first grand convention. It will feature representation from electoral area committees, district coordinators, provincial committees, central committees, and various departments.
