Manakamana Cable Car upgraded to digital technology
The service had been suspended since July 15 for upgrades, including the replacement of the main cables.
KATHMANDU: The first cable car in Nepal, operated by Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd., will now operate using digital technology.
The service had been suspended since July 15 for upgrades, including the replacement of the main cables.
The cable car, which had been operating for 26 years using analog technology, has been upgraded to digital technology, according to Ujjwal Sherchan, the Deputy General Manager of Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd.
The transformation to digital technology was completed under the supervision of engineers and technicians from the Austrian company Doppelmayr.
The cable car service, which began on December 23, 1998, aims to facilitate visitors to the famous Manakamana Temple located in Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality, Gorkha.
The cable car’s bottom station is situated at Cheres in Ichhakamana Rural Municipality-4, Chitwan.
