KATHMANDU: Bishwokarma Puja, a significant Hindu festival observed on the first day of Ashwin in the solar calendar, will be celebrated across Nepal this Sunday.

According to Hindu mythology, Bishwokarma is the divine architect responsible for creating magnificent palaces, flying chariots, and powerful weapons for the gods and goddesses. He is revered as the official craftsman and architect of the divine beings.

It is believed that Bishwokarma constructed the city of Dwarka during the Dwapar Yuga to safeguard Lord Krishna from his enemy, Kansa.

This day holds special importance for artisans, craftsmen, mechanics, smiths, welders, and industrial workers, who seek blessings for safety and prosperity in their respective professions.

As part of the celebration, people offer red and white garments to their vehicles and adorn them with colorful festoons.
