On Sept 3, the Israeli military attacked the home of the Al-Douki family in Deir al-Balah.
The assault resulted in the death of Hanan’s mother, Shima. Her younger sister and father sustained serious injuries. Her sister, Misk, lost her left leg in the attack, while their father is in critical condition in an intensive care unit.
The Al-Douki family, like many others in the Gaza Strip, is now grappling with severe shortages of food, shelter, and medical care. Children are left with an uncertain future, trapped in a dire situation.
The violence is part of a broader conflict, with Israel launching a counteroffensive in the Gaza Strip against Hamas following an attack on southern Israeli territory on Oct 7, 2023.
