KATHMANDU: A special parliamentary investigation committee on cooperative fraud has found former Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network, ex-Home Minister, and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair, Rabi Lamichhane, along with others, guilty of financial misconduct.

The committee has prepared its report based on the findings.

The investigation confirmed that company Chair Gitendra Babu (GB) Rai, Managing Director Lamichhane, and executive Chhabilal Joshi jointly operated bank accounts in two banks by filling out KYC forms and signing checks.

Despite Lamichhane’s consistent denial of misusing cooperative funds, the committee has gathered substantial evidence proving his involvement.

GB, Lamichhane, and Chhabilal reportedly used cooperative funds in Gorkha Media, withdrawing money via checks.

“The account was operated requiring the signatures of any two out of the three. Checks signed by Rabi Lamichhane were also cashed. The funds used to pay the company’s salary, signed by Lamichhane, also came from the cooperative,” said a member of the investigation committee.
