KATHMANDU: Today marks the celebration of the 60th National Children’s Day across the country, with various programs organized under the theme “Investing in our future means investing in our children.”

The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child on Nov 20, 1989, and Nepal ratified it on Sept 14, 1990.

Since then, this day has been observed annually as National Children’s Day.

Nepal’s Constitution ensures the comprehensive development of children by recognizing their rights as fundamental.

It outlines provisions related to child protection, preservation, development, and participation.
