Historic Nirfu monastery in Mustang rebuilt

KATHMANDU: Historic Nirfu Monastery at Chooser of Lomanthang rural municipality-1 in Mustang has been rebuilt.
The 2015 Gorkha earthquake damaged the historic heritage dating back to the 15th century and the reconstruction was supported by the German Embassy in Kathmandu, according to Chhombhe Gurung of the Monastery.
The Embassy provided the economic assistance of Rs 6.6 million to restore the monument, keeping its original architect unchanged.
The monastery is situated in a cave.
The major building of the monastery has three rooms and the process is in the progress of setting up a library inside it.
The Monastery has run the Lama classes (religious classes based on Buddhism) up to the eighth grade since 2004; presently, 60 students are enrolled.
The entry fee for the monastery is Rs 100 per capita for Nepali and Rs 1,000 for foreigners.
It takes five minutes on a motor vehicle to reach Chhoser from Nechhung from the Beni-Jomsom Korola road.
