KATHMANDU: Vegetables produced in Nepal have been started to be exported to Qatar from today.

With the support of the China Foundation for Rural Development Nepal Office, about 2,000 kilograms of vegetables produced in Dakshinkali Municipality, Kathmandu, have been sent to Qatar.

This was announced by the Mayor of Dakshinkali, Mohan Basnet.

He stated, “We have handed over the vegetables to the Qatari Ambassador to Nepal, His Excellency Missal Mohammed Ali Al Ansari, at an event held at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Customs Office.”

The Director General of the Department of Agriculture, Dr. Narhari Prasad Ghimire, expressed his happiness over the export of vegetables from Nepal to Qatar.

Under the agricultural promotion program of the China Foundation for Rural Development, vegetables were cultivated in South Kalai. It is believed that the export of these vegetables will contribute to the country’s economic development and encourage farmers.

The China Foundation for Rural Development provided farmers with special training and necessary agricultural materials for vegetable production.

The ceremony for exporting fresh Nepali vegetables to Qatar highlighted the significant role of China’s technical and economic assistance in Nepal’s agricultural development.

The China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD) is actively involved in transferring successful rural development practices from China to the Nepali community.

Initially, CFRD focused on skill development through vocational training in plumbing and electrical work with the goal of improving living standards within the Nepali community.

In 2023, CFRD also provided special training in off-season vegetable production in Tarkeshwor Municipality, Kathmandu District, to promote sustainable development.
