KATHMANDU: A man has been arrested by the police in Pokhara on charges of murdering his wife.

The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Jahar Singh Kunwar, originally from Annapurna Rural Municipality–1, Naudanda, and currently residing in Kunwartole, Pokhara–8, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing his wife, 40-year-old Radhika Kunwar.

According to Basanta Sharma, the information officer at the District Police Office, Jahar Singh attacked Radhika with a khukuri (a traditional Nepali knife) during a domestic dispute.

Though she was rushed to the Western Regional Hospital under the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, she could not be saved.

The incident came to light after neighbors informed the authorities.

A team from Ward Police Office, Baidam, took Radhika to the hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries.

Jahar Singh was arrested along with the khukuri. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
