KATHMANDU: A Nepali man has passed away in the U.S.

Bharat Roka Magar, a 39-year-old originally from Bhume-7, Dharmashala, in Rukum, Nepal, died on Monday following a heart attack, according to family sources.

Roka Magar, who had arrived in the U.S. from Mexico nearly two years ago without a visa after spending over 7 million Nepali rupees on the journey, was admitted to the hospital three days prior to his death after suffering a heart attack.

The hospital declared him dead on Monday afternoon.

After his asylum application was approved in November 2023, Roka Magar was in the process of bringing his wife and children to the U.S., but he passed away before the process could be completed.

His wife, 20-year-old daughter, and 15-year-old son, who are currently residing in Ghorahi, Dang, Nepal, are deeply grieving his loss.

Roka Magar had recently moved to Boston for work, and now his family is preparing for his funeral.

His neighbor, Chetan Budha Magar, shared that they plan to start a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the funeral expenses and provide support for his family, who are facing financial difficulties.
