Failure to review SC decision will lead to rebellion in Kathmandu: MP KC

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress MP Arjun Narsingh KC has demanded an immediate review of the Supreme Court’s decision prohibiting the construction of structures within 20 meters of riverbanks.

Speaking during a special session in the House of Representatives on Monday, KC emphasized the urgency of revisiting the ruling.

He warned that failure to do so could lead to a situation of unrest in Kathmandu.

He urged the government to act seriously and prioritize the interests of the general public in this matter.

MP KC pointed out that the Supreme Court’s decision, which affects citizens who have built homes on 3-4 aana plots along the riversides of Kathmandu, would severely disrupt their lives.

He commended the government for its decision to seek a review of the court order, as it would prevent further hardship for the affected people.

KC also called on municipalities to raise their voices in support of the citizens.

He stressed the importance of the government remaining vigilant to ensure that the public does not face injustice in such cases.
