Health Post Chief held on rape charges in Baitadi

KATHMANDU: The chief of Gajari Health Post in Sigash Rural Municipality-2, Baitadi, 41-year-old Janak Singh Dhami, has been arrested on charges of rape.

According to Inspector Balram Pandey, spokesperson for the Baitadi District Police Office, the woman lodged the complaint at the Patan Area Police Office on Thursday, alleging that Dhami had repeatedly raped her.
Dhami was arrested following the filing of the complaint, and he is currently being held in police custody at Patan for further investigation.
The victim, who is unmarried and also a health worker, has accused Dhami of repeatedly coercing her into non-consensual acts through various manipulations.
Police have stated that they are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident based on the victim’s allegations.
