Nationwide rainfall expected tonight: High-risk areas identified

KATHMANDU: Currently, monsoon winds are affecting the entire country.

The monsoon low-pressure line is situated near its average position in the west and slightly south of its normal position in the east.

Widespread rainfall is being recorded across most parts of the country.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is occurring in some areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini States, and isolated locations in other provinces.

In the afternoon, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in some hilly regions of the country. Heavy rainfall is forecasted in a few areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali States. Light to moderate rain is likely in some hilly regions during the night, with the possibility of heavy rain in isolated locations of Bagmati and Gandaki States.

Last night, heavy rainfall was recorded in Jalpa, Kumlagau, Gandakot, and surrounding areas of Palpa. Similarly, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, and Pyuthan also witnessed heavy rain, according to the division. Heavy rainfall was also reported in Tikapur, Baliya, and Bachila areas of Kailali.

Heavy rainfall has been recorded in Baglung and Sindhupalchowk. The division has urged people to remain cautious due to the risk of flooding in rivers and streams and possible inundation in low-lying areas in these regions.

Afternoon: Partly to generally cloudy weather is expected across the country. Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is likely in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim States. A few places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim States may experience heavy rainfall.

Night: Partly to generally cloudy weather will prevail across the country. Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in some hilly regions and isolated areas elsewhere. Heavy rainfall is likely in one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati States.

Afternoon: Partly to generally cloudy skies will cover the entire country. Some hilly regions may witness light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning. Isolated areas across the country could also experience light to moderate rainfall. Heavy rainfall is expected in one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali States.
