PM Oli’s Facebook followers drop to 588,000

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s Facebook followers are decreasing.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has experienced a significant drop in his Facebook followers, a decrease attributed to an ongoing ‘unfollow’ campaign led by supporters of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah.
Tensions between Balen Shah and the CPN-UML have surfaced on social media, resulting in a notable reduction in Oli’s follower count.
As of Tuesday, Oli’s Facebook page had 666,000 followers.
However, by Thursday morning at 9 AM, this number had fallen to 588,000.
The drop follows Balen Shah’s Facebook post criticizing the government after his own posts were removed. Shah’s post read: “Don’t blame me for removing posts. If I am wrong, hold me accountable; if not, hold the government responsible.” This statement seems to have sparked a campaign among his supporters to unfollow Prime Minister Oli’s page in protest.
