KATHMANDU: A young man has been charged with cybercrime for criticizing Prime Minister KP Oli on Facebook.

The 21-year-old Ramesh Bahadur Rawal from Khaptad Chhededaha, Bajura, faces the charges following a complaint by Ajit Kumar Lama.

Rawal was arrested on Aug 16 and has since been released on bail by the Kathmandu District Court.

On Facebook, Rawal posted a photo of Prime Minister Oli with the caption: “This is the one who is looting the country, right or wrong, friends? The goddess of corruption, the deity of corruption.” The police charged him for allegedly spreading public hatred. Rawal works as a staff member at Kistone Hospital in Bahraibise, Sindhupalchowk.
