KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s Facebook followers have been decreasing.

This drop is attributed to a campaign by supporters of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balen Shah, who are actively unfollowing the Prime Minister’s page.

The discord between Balen and the CPN-UML has resulted in a significant decrease in followers for Prime Minister Oli.

As of Tuesday, his Facebook page had 666,000 followers. However, by Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., the number had fallen to 598,000, marking a reduction of 68,000 followers within just 24 hours since the campaign began.

Following the removal of his post from Facebook, Balen Shah wrote, “It’s not about deleting posts; it’s about holding the government accountable. If I am wrong, hold me accountable. If not, hold the guilty accountable.” After this post, it is reported that his supporters initiated the unfollow campaign against Prime Minister Oli.
