KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Special Committee on the Misuse of Savings in Cooperatives has had its deadline extended by 15 days.

This decision was made during the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, where the committee’s timeline was extended by an additional 15 days.

During the meeting, Committee Chair Surya Bahadur Thapa Chettri provided an update on the progress made so far.

The committee was initially formed with a seven-member investigation team, chaired by Thapa, on May 28, with a three-month deadline.

Since the committee could not complete its work within the initial three-month period, Chair Thapa proposed an extension of 15 days to the House of Representatives, which was unanimously approved by the members, as announced by Speaker Devraj Ghimire.

The committee includes Sarita Bhusal from the UML, Ishwari Neupane and Dileendra Badu from the Congress, Lekhnath Dahal from the Maoist Party, Shishir Khanal from the RSP, and Dhruv Bahadur Pradhan from the RPP.
