Preparations begin for PM Modi’s Nepal visit: Foreign Minister

KATHMANDU: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing for an official visit to Nepal.

Nepal’s Foreign Minister Ranu Devi Sharma, who recently returned from a visit to India, conveyed that she handed over an official invitation from Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to Indian Prime Minister Modi.

According to Sharma, Modi immediately instructed the concerned authorities to begin preparations for the visit.

During a meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee under the Federal Parliament’s House of Representatives on Tuesday, Minister Sharma stated that Prime Minister Modi gladly accepted the invitation and directed his team to schedule the visit.

Minister Sharma also emphasized that she discussed the importance of further elevating the relationship between the two countries during her courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Modi.

She said, “During my visit to India, I conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes from the honorable Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and formally handed over the invitation for a state visit to Nepal. Prime Minister Modi graciously accepted the invitation and immediately instructed his team to create a schedule for the visit.”

Additionally, Minister Sharma mentioned that she discussed the implementation of past agreements between the two nations with her Indian counterpart, S. Jaishankar, during her visit.
