33 road accidents in three years: Seven lives lost due to road defects in district

KATHMANDU: Over the past three years, the district has witnessed a total of 33 road accidents, resulting in the tragic loss of seven lives, according to the District Police Office.

The majority of these accidents have been attributed to road defects.

Police Inspector Narendra Chand reported that in the fiscal year 2078/79 BS, there were six incidents, one of which claimed the life of a child.

In the following year, 2079/80 BS, the district recorded 10 road accidents, leading to two fatalities.

A total of 24 people were injured, although none sustained serious injuries.

The last fiscal year saw a sharp increase in accidents, with 18 incidents occurring, resulting in the deaths of five individuals.

This period also had the highest number of accidents, with 35 people sustaining injuries in total.
