Foreign tourist arrivals increase, with most coming from India

KATHMANDU: In August 2024, Nepal experienced an 8.3% increase in foreign tourist arrivals compared to the previous year.

According to statistics provided by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), 5,566 more tourists visited Nepal in August 2024 compared to August 2023.

Specifically, 72,719 tourists arrived in Nepal in August 2024, up from 67,153 in August 2023.

In August, the highest number of tourists came from India (25,832), followed by China (6,614), the United States (5,614), Sri Lanka (4,851), and Bangladesh (3,077).

The board’s data also shows that in August 2022, Nepal welcomed 41,304 tourists, in August 2021 there were 6,093 tourists, and in August 2019, 94,749 tourists visited the country.
