78 cases of scrub typhus diagnosed since July

KATHMANDU: Out of the patients who came for treatment in various hospitals of the district since last July, 78 persons have been diagnosed with scrub typhus infection.

Public health officer Bimal Patel said 33 of the total infected are from Chitwan while 45 from outside the district.
In the last fiscal year, 248 people were tested positive for scrub typhus while conducting sample test among 762 people. “Scrobtyphoid infection is transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected worm:, it is said.
Fever, redness in eyes, cough, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea, breathing complications, severe headache, joint and muscle pain, malaise, and sometimes black spots in the bite site are its common symptoms.
