KARNALI: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that a big responsibility rested on his party’s shoulders.

The Maoist Centre Chair, who arrived here in connection with addressing the ‘State-level Consultation Meeting’ organized by the Maoist Centre Surkhet, said so while talking to journalists at the Surkhet Airport today.

According to him, the Maoist Centre has the responsibility of taking the peace process to a conclusion, protecting the federal democratic system and the political changes and defending the rights secured by the dalits, women, indigenous nationalities, Madhesis, Muslims, Tharus, workers and peasants and other marginalized communities.

He stressed that the Maoist Centre has to be united and face the situation for this purpose.

Also the former Prime Minister, Dahal urged one and all not to speak out against his party so as to belittle it.

The Maoist Centre Chair stated that the Comprehensive Peace Accord has been made a part of the Constitution and on top of that the Accord mentions ‘Maoist People’s War’ in its explanatory note.

Chair Dahal said he has come to Karnali in connection with collecting suggestions, feedback and views by visiting all the states.

“The coalition among the big parties is highly rare and contradictory episode in a parliamentary democracy,” he said of the present ruling alliance between the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML).

He advised the government not to attempt to promote lawlessness and corruption. Chair Dahal said debates and discussions are an ongoing process within a political party and this makes the party stronger.

“Handover of the party leadership is not that appropriate in the present situation. The post of party chairmanship is not a big thing for me. I have already reached a post higher than the party Chair. I am thinking of adopting a new role once a team is formed,” he said on the occasion.
