KATHMANDU: The bodies of six people who died in a landslide in Doramba Shailung Rural Municipality-3 of Ramechhap on Saturday night have been handed over to their families.

The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their families, while the injured have been sent to Kathmandu for treatment.

The District Police Office’s information officer, Kaushal Neupane, reported that the bodies of the deceased were examined at the scene and later handed over to their relatives.

The search for the remaining four missing individuals is ongoing. Officer Neupane mentioned that the one-kilometer-long landslide is complicating the search and rescue efforts.

The victims of the landslide include Chandika Shrestha, 30, her 18-month-old son Ayush, and the Pahari family from the same ward: Urmila Pahari, 57, Sandeep Pahari, 30, Santosh Pahari, 11, and Vijayan Pahari, 14.

The landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall last night in Lekharka of the same ward, swept away three houses and buried one.

The landslide also destroyed the concrete bridge over Andheri Khola, which connects wards 2 and 3.
