Doramba landslide update: Six bodies found, four missing

KATHMANDU: A landslide in Sailung Rural Municipality-3, Doramba, last night buried three houses, resulting in the deaths of six people, while four others are still missing.

One person is reported to be in critical condition.

According to the District Police Office, the landslide struck Ward No. 3 of the municipality, claiming the lives of 30-year-old Chandika Shrestha and her 18-month-old son Aayush, 57-year-old Urmila Pahari, 30-year-old Sandip Pahari, 11-year-old Santosh Pahari, and 14-year-old Bigyan Pahari.

Eleven-year-old Anjana Shrestha was injured, and her lower body is paralyzed.

The Vice-Chairperson of the Rural Municipality, Khamala Thapa Magar, informed that the landslide occurred late last night.

As soon as the incident was reported, locals, police, and Nepalese Army personnel began rescue and search operations, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar Singh of the Ramechhap District Police Office.

The landslide also swept away a concrete bridge over the Andheri River, which marks the boundary between Wards No. 2 and 3.
