KATHMANDU: A post-mortem has been conducted on a tiger killed by a buffalo in Manhari rural municipality-6 Pratappur of Makwanpur.

The tiger, which had strayed from Chitwan National Park, was killed by the buffalo after it entered the shed of Bal Bahadur Rai in Pratapur.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning when the buffalo defended itself against the tiger’s attack. It was found that the buffalo sustained injuries during the encounter.

The deceased tiger was taken to the headquarters of Chitwan National Park in Kasara, where a post-mortem was conducted.

According to the report, the tiger, which was already injured and weak, died as a result of the buffalo’s retaliation.

Dr. Vijay Shrestha, a senior veterinarian involved in the post-mortem, reported that the tiger had old wounds on various parts of its body.

The tiger was estimated to be around 8 years old.

Dr. Shrestha further explained that the tiger, being extremely weak and emaciated, had ventured into the village and entered the buffalo’s shed.

The buffalo, in an attempt to protect itself, struck the tiger in a vulnerable area, likely leading to its death.

New wounds were found on the tiger’s head and the rear part of its body, with the head injury possibly being the cause of death.
