MG Hector marks 5th anniversary with record-breaking journey from lowest to highest altitude

KATHMANDU: MG Motor India’s popular SUV, the MG Hector, has celebrated its 5th anniversary in India by achieving a significant milestone.

In collaboration with Mountain Goat, the MG Hector earned the prestigious title in the India Book of Records for “The Longest Road Trip from the Lowest to the Highest Altitude.”

This remarkable journey began on July 27, 2024, at 1:30 PM from Kuttanad, Kerala, and concluded at 8:28 AM on July 30, 2024, at Umling La in Ladakh.

Covering a distance of 3,846 kilometres, the trip was completed in just 66 hours and 58 minutes, making the MG Hector the fastest SUV to achieve this feat.

The SUV, designed to handle various road conditions, surpassed 25,000 units in sales within its first year and achieved a significant milestone of 50,000 units by Feb 2021.

Notably, the 50,000th Hector was manufactured by an all-women team at MG’s Halol plant in Vadodara, Gujarat.

Built with features like high-strength steel, hot-stamped B-pillars, thick door panels, and roll-formed tubular steel doors, the Hector emphasizes passenger safety. Key safety features include six airbags, a 360-degree HD camera, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Assist Control (HAC), disc brakes on all four wheels, 3-point seat belts for all seats, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), and front parking sensors.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) and auto turn indicators further enhance safe and comfortable driving.

The MG Hector also offers India’s largest 35.56 cm (14-inch) HD portrait infotainment system with a new user interface. It features the segment’s first digital Bluetooth® key and key-sharing capability.

Additionally, the SUV provides over 75 connected features, including 100 voice commands and navigation voice guidance in five Indian languages.

Equipped with an Infinity audio system, the Hector delivers a premium sound experience with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, offering a 360-degree impressive audio experience.
