Govt to insure all households at risk: CM Kandel

KATHMANDU: Chief Minister of Karnali State, Yam Lal Kandel, has said state government was all set to insure all houses at risk across the state.

CM Kandel was saying it while addressing a programme on ‘Review of Disaster Response and Resilient Infrastructures’ coordinated by the Karnali Integrated Rural Development and Research Centre (KIRDARC) Nepal and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority at Surkhet on Monday. He shared that the state government had allocated the budget of Rs 45 million for the household insurance in the fiscal year, 2081/82.

“In the present national debate, all three tiers of govenrment and stakeholders are together,” he said, wishing the event issued the declaration on disaster risk reduction and response that could be addressed by the Karnali State government.

According to him, the province government had provided Rs 200 thousand each to the household that lost family members in the Jajarkot earthquake last year.

On the occasion, the Country Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization, Ken Shimizu, informed us that his organization was extending its utmost support to Nepal to help it cope with the disaster. He underlined the need for collective efforts to cope with disaster.

Also addressing the event were the Executive Chief of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Anil Pokhrel, and the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Kali Prasad Parajuli.
