Casualties in Gaza conflict rise to 40,099 amid ongoing Israeli assault

KATHMANDU: The number of Palestinians who have died as a result of the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza has reached 40,099, according to Gaza-based health officials.

Since the outbreak of the Palestine-Israel conflict in October 2023, the Israeli military has killed 25 people and injured 72 others in the past 24 hours.

This brings the total death toll to 40,099 and the number of injured to 92,609.

Many victims are reported to be trapped under rubble and in the streets.

Israel began a major assault on Gaza against Hamas on October 7, 2023, in response to an attack by Hamas through the southern Israeli border.
