KATHMANDU: The CPN (Unified Socialist) has scheduled an oath-taking ceremony for 251 newly appointed central members on Bhadra 9 (Aug 25) in Kathmandu.

These members, nominated immediately after the party’s general convention, will be formally inducted into their roles and organizational activities following an oath administered by Party Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal.

The party is also set to assign leaders who were not included in the central committee to various departments.

The party has instructed all central committee members to be present at the ceremony. Following the oath-taking event, a central committee meeting will commence on the same day, where discussions will be held to establish the structure of central departments.

The meeting will also formulate procedures and criteria for the selection of office bearers, as stated by Central Member Som Prasad Pandey.

Due to the large number of aspirants for office bearer positions, the party plans to set criteria to ensure geographical, regional, and balanced representation from all seven states. The meeting will also discuss the management of leaders within the central committee based on clusters.

The party has indicated that office bearers will be selected based on the contributions and capabilities of leaders, ensuring representation of youth, Dalits, indigenous communities, minorities, and marginalized groups.

Currently, the party’s central committee consists of 344 members, with only three office bearers: the Chairperson, Honorary Leader, and General Secretary.

There are still 18 vacant office bearer positions, including Senior Vice Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Deputy General Secretary, and Treasurer. These positions will be filled based on the contributions and capabilities of the leaders, according to leader Pandey.
