Landslide in Bajhang claims lives of four; 5 others rescued

KATHMANDU: In Bungal Municipality-10, Tumeda of Bajhang district, a landslide has resulted in the death of four people.
On Sunday night, a landslide buried the house of Bir Bahadur Dhami, killing four members of the same family.
The landslide occurred around 1 AM, and the bodies of Kali Dhami, Golki Dhami, Aashika Dhami, and Laxmi Dhami were recovered from the debris.
According to the District Police Office Bajhang, local residents and a team from the Jhapa Police Post worked actively to retrieve the bodies, which were found in the collapsed house around 7:15 AM.
The victims include Bir Bahadur’s wife, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters.
Additionally, five people who were caught in the landslide were rescued.
The immediate efforts of the villagers led to the successful rescue of Bira Dhami, Ujjwal Dhami, Rosan Dhami, Kamala Dhami, and Shanti Dhami, who were saved from the debris.
