Movie ‘Nametine Ghau’ to be screened this Friday

KATHMANDU: The movie “Nametine Ghau,” based on the true stories of acid attack survivors, is set to be released on Bhadra 7 (Aug 23).

During a press conference held in Birgunj on Sunday, the film’s producer and director, Ramit Dhungana, provided insights into the movie.
According to Director Dhungana, the film primarily depicts the physical and psychological pain endured by acid attack victims. The movie also advocates for lifetime imprisonment for acid attackers and calls for a ban on the easy sale and distribution of acid.
“Nametinee Ghau” aims to raise awareness in society, and Director Dhungana emphasized that everyone should watch it at least once.
The film includes the stories of 33 acid attack survivors from across the country and features performances by 125 actors.
Prominent roles in the film are portrayed by individuals such as Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Superintendent of Police Kumod Dhungel, acid attack survivors Muskan Khatun, Prapti Paudel, Liza Korani, Rozal Thapa, Kamal Devkota, among others.
With a production budget of Rs 30 million, the film was completed in 58 days. Directed and produced by actor Ramit Dhungana, the film’s story and screenplay were written by Shivam Adhikari, with cinematography by Niraj Kandel, editing by Banis Shah, music by Om Sunar, and action choreography by Kiran Dhakal.
Director Dhungana mentioned that this film can be seen as the first part of a series, with preparations already underway for parts 2 and 3.
