Midnight tension at Pashupati’s Kotihom: Why did police reached?

KATHMANDU: Last night tension erupted at the Pashupatinath temple premises during the conclusion of a religious event named ‘Kotihom,’ which had been ongoing for a month.

The disturbance occurred on the 32nd day of the event when plainclothes police officers reached for questioning.

A clash broke out between the officers and the event organizers when supporters of organizer Vijay Bhandari began attacking the police following reports that the ‘Kotihom’ event had become controversial.

Plainclothes officers had approached Bhandari for questioning, but some individuals present at the scene assaulted the police.

In response, the police arrested two people involved in inciting the conflict.

Shortly after the police questioning, organizer Vijay Bhandari took to social media, urging his supporters to take to the streets in protest.

During a live broadcast on Facebook, Bhandari accused the police of attempting to arrest him without a warrant.
